186_. This rarity was part of the John Ford, Jr. Collection that sold in January 2005. The only references I can find were that Englehart was elected county treasurer in 1862 and R.S. Fairchild was a businessman in 1867. Jacob Englehart was a county commissioner as well. This note was merchants scrip for a dry goods store run by Jacob Englehart and R. Scott Fairchild during the money crisis of 1862 when these bills were issued. By 1865 they were back in business. There is a corner tip missing at the lower left.
