Lot #93276 - Continental Currency - ($ 150.00 - $ 300.00)
CC-46 $30 July 22, 1776 Contemporary Counterfeit
A high-denomination counterfeit from this much scarcer July 1776 emission. In recent years the sales of the Newman collection have brought this once maligned segment of the Continental Currency market to the forefront of collecting.
Grade: PCGS Fine 12
Lot #93277 - Continental Currency - ($ 100.00 - $ 200.00)
CC-95 $40 January 14, 1779
Bold colors. Corners somewhat rounded.
Grade: VF
Lot #93278 - Colonial Currency > Connecticut - ($ 100.00 - $ 200.00)
CT-170 5 Shillings June 1, 1773
PMG notes "Tape Repairs." Seen with a slash cancel. The pre-1775 Connecticut issues are quite underrated.
Grade: PMG Good 6 Net
Lot #93279 - Colonial Currency > Connecticut - ($ 30.00 - $ 60.00)
CT-205 6 Pence June 19, 1776
A few minor nicks and possible stains on top. Cut cancelled.
Grade: XF
Lot #93280 - Colonial Currency > Delaware - ($ 225.00 - $ 375.00)
DE-29 15 Shillings February 28, 1746
A rare early Ben Franklin printed series which was the second printed by him for this colony. Heavily torn with hinge repairs along the center fold. An above average example with About Good being a more typical grade.
Grade: VG
Lot #93281 - Colonial Currency > Georgia - ($ 275.00 - $ 525.00)
GA-69 $1/4 1776
A fractional denomination Georgia colonial which shows quite well except for the fact that it is "Backed." Seen with bold signatures and intricate edge design.
Grade: PMG Ch. Fine 15 Net
Lot #93282 - Colonial Currency > Massachusetts - ($ 300.00 - $ 600.00)
MA-40 1 Shilling 6 Pence November 30, 1733
Lower right portion of a complete note. Visible year and denomination. Signed by Edward Hutchinson, James Bowdoin, Hugh Hall, William Foye, and Edward Bromfield, Jr. Extraordinarily rare.
Grade: Good
Lot #93283 - Colonial Currency > Massachusetts - ($ 400.00 - $ 800.00)
MA-52 5 Shillings October 14, 1713 Contemporary Counterfeit
A rare early Massachusetts colonial from an issue that was authorized to call in all 3s6d and 10s notes due to extensive counterfeiting. PCGS notes Splits, Tears, and Damage; Repairs. They also cite that this is a partial note. Half of a note that would likely be a solid multi-thousand dollar proposition if completely intact is better than nothing at all. These pre-1750 "Tall" notes are avidly sought after whenever they appear.
Grade: PCGS Apparent Fine 15
Lot #93284 - Colonial Currency > Massachusetts - ($ 300.00 - $ 600.00)
MA-87.2 5 Shillings August 1, 1740 Contemporary Counterfeit
Another rare early contemporary counterfeit of a rare pre-1750 New England issue. PCGS notes "Missing Top Half of Note; Splits, Damage, and Pieces Missing and Separated; Mounted." Merchant Isaac Winslow had his name engraved as part of the obligation and he countersigned genuine notes. There is much more study one can do to truly appreciate these rare early pieces of our fledgling nation's colonial monetary history. Ex: Eric P. Newman collection.
Grade: PCGS Apparent Good 4
Lot #93285 - Colonial Currency > Massachusetts - ($ 200.00 - $ 400.00)
MA-261 1 Shilling 6 Pence October 16, 1778
An acceptable example from this second Codfish issue. Paul Revere printed the face of this issue and Thomas Fleet printed the back. Seen with several internal tears and tape repairs. Still a decent example that is not seen in the usual CU grade.
Grade: Fine
Lot #93286 - Colonial Currency > Massachusetts - ($ 40.00 - $ 80.00)
MA-283 $7 May 5, 1780

Lot #93291 - Colonial Currency > North Carolina - ($ 450.00 - $ 850.00)
NC-136b, 138, 139 2 Shillings 6 Pence, 1 Pound, 10 Shillings December 1771 Uncut Sheet of Three
A fantastic sheet of three notes with a handled bottom right corner being all that prohibits a far better grade from being assigned.
Grade: Ch. AU
Lot #93292 - Colonial Currency > North Carolina - ($ 200.00 - $ 400.00)
NC-138 10 Shillings December, 1771
A stunning, cut from the sheet example of this 1771 North Carolina series. It has some of the widest sheet margins imaginable.
Grade: Gem CU
Lot #93293 - Colonial Currency > North Carolina - ($ 300.00 - $ 600.00)
NC-143 5 Pounds December 1771
Bold signatures and Drum and Fife vignette are seen on this lightly circulated note which is the highest denomination from the series.
Grade: XF
Lot #93294 - Colonial Currency > North Carolina - ($ 300.00 - $ 600.00)
NC-198 $500 May 10, 1780
A much scarcer high denomination note that is crisp, bright, and very well margined. One of the prettiest pieces we have seen.
Grade: XF/AU
Lot #93295 - Colonial Currency > New Jersey - ($ 150.00 - $ 300.00)
NJ-95 6 Shillings June 22, 1756
With the exception of some surface abrasions, this is actually quite a presentable example of this rare low denomination. The coat of arms remains clearly detailed and the better part of three signatures are visible. For some reason this denomination did not survive in sheet form like so many of the AU and CU pieces we encounter.
Grade: Fine
Lot #93296 - Colonial Currency > New Jersey - ($ 150.00 - $ 300.00)
NJ-124 15 Shillings October 20, 1758
The October 1758 issue is much scarcer than the earlier May issue of that same year. This example has center fold and edge restorations. A vast majority of survivors exist in either VG or Fine condition with problems.
Grade: VG
Lot #93297 - Colonial Currency > New Jersey - ($ 125.00 - $ 250.00)
NJ-139 30 Shillings April 12, 1760
These red and black higher denomination notes from the 1760 series are sorely underrated. Although there is a "Paper Pull" noted on the back, the visual impact is that of a fully Very Fine note.
Grade: PMG Ch. Fine 15
Lot #93298 - Colonial Currency > New Jersey - ($ 300.00 - $ 600.00)
NJ-212 3 Shillings 1786
A decent example of this final New Jersey series that has retained legible signatures and serial number, as well as bold coat of arms. There are tears and pieces added.

Grade: VF/XF
Lot #93302 - Colonial Currency > Virginia - ($ 300.00 - $ 600.00)
VA-162 $50 October 5, 1778

Fr. 1619 $1 1957 L-A Courtesy Autograph
PMG has given a net grade due to an Annotation. The only annotation on this note is the courtesy autograph of Abe Vigoda. In 1982 he was mistakenly reported in the news as being deceased. This is perfectly understandable since at that time, at a glance, he could have mistakenly been thought to be 112 years old. He played the role of Phil Fish in the TV show Barney Miller, but is probably best remembered for his first credited film role as Salvatore Tessio in The Godfather. You don't have to be a Caporegime in order to claim this prize.

A better Wapello County institution which printed only high denominations for Third Charters and Small Size, being forced to liquidate in October 1931. The officer combination of Paul C. Ackley and William B. Bonnifield, Jr. served dutifully from 1912 until the bank closed. Only thirteen banks throughout the entire state issued Type I fifties. Upon looking at auction records and the NBN census, this appears to be the finest example that has appeared at auction and it bears the second lowest serial number recorded.

Tim Prusmack Art Note 1878 $500
This money art was created in the year 2000 by Tim Prusmack who died in 2004. PCGS Currency correctly indicates that this is Non-Legal Tender. This is an esoteric segment of the market that was relatively stagnant for a number of years until one of our hobby's savvier entrepreneurs, after sitting through roughly fifteen uninterrupted hours of auction hysteria, scooped up the final lot of that 2,000 lot sale at roughly 115AM at a mind-bending $3 per Prusmack note. After the notes were all graded by PCGS Currency (this is one of those) they were sold individually in weekly Tuesday night auctions and this niche of the market has remained active and vibrant to this very day. If you have ever made good money buying and selling these works of art.......You're Welcome!!
