One of Only Two Territorial Banks to Issue 1902 $5 Date Backs

National Bank Notes > Arizona Territory

Globe, Territory of Arizona, NB, P8193
Fr. 591 $5 1902DB
Grade: VG
This was a Territorial only bank that was chartered in April 1906, and was liquidated on January 11, 1910, so not even four years in business. Only two banks in all of Arizona issued $5 Date Backs during the Territorial period - this bank along with the First NB of Douglas (Ch. 6633). The Globe National Bank issued a paltry 538 sheets of $5 Date Backs along with 480 sheets of $10-$10-$10-$20 Date Backs. There is a Red Seal listed in the census, but this will be the first auction appearance for this bank. A well-circulated example with some edge splits noted at top, but with the stamped signatures plainly legible. A true rarity.
Current Bid: $ 12,000.00

Estimate: ($ 20,000.00 - $ 40,000.00)
