A25 5 Pesos L. 1898
Initial attempt at an issue by the First Philippine Republic. With serial number, without signature as all known examples come. Watermarked paper; imprint Z. Fajardo at bottom right outside of frame on back, the only time it appears in this location for notes of this Republic. Normal small hole at right. Decades ago, the late Aldo P. Basso, reknown Philippine author and researcher, offered these on the market. Since then, they have become extremely difficult to obtain. PCGS terms this "Ch. Abt. New 58 PPQ". Outstanding original. This piece is one number lower than Neil Shafer's "Guide Book of Philippines Paper Money" plate note.

COMPLETE PACKET!
Here is an absolutely astounding offering! One of my father's most prized possessions; he proudly displayed this unique group several times and turned down many offers to sell this outright. A complete Naval Aviators packet, including the rare packet itself, consisting of forty 1 Peso (#89c) and four each of the 5 Pesos (#91c) and 10 Pesos (#92c) for a total of 100 Pesos. Of the highest rarity and of critical importance to Philippines specialists, World War II collectors, or to anyone who simply likes sensational items. Given the rarity, it would not be surprising to see this exceed the high estimate. Neil Shafer Collection.

FOUR NOTES. Proofs (#751/31; 752/33; 753/2; 754/2) with serial numbers of zeroes. Serial numbers red and seals the same color as frame of each piece. Similar to Standard Catalog #126, #128, #130, and #131 but strong evidence indicates the printer to be Thomas De La Rue (without imprint). Light foxing. The 5 and 10 Centavos denominations made by TDLR were never issued; while the 20 and 50 Centavos denominations made by TDLR were issued, the pieces here have a different rendition of Magsaysay's signature. The 20 and 50 Centavos with security strip. Excellent research group. Not generally available.

($ 2,500.00 - $ 4,000.00)
NL 2 "and Dollars" ND
Model on card. Some pieces attached and other elements hand drawn. Young woman in national costume, the same vignette as on the Polish government-in-exile series from World War II. Green underprint with republic arms; black Central Bank seal. Serial number of zeroes; printer is American Bank Note Company. It is strange that ABNC would make Philippine models and denominate them in Dollars; an amazing anomaly.
