1864 COMPOUND INTEREST TREASURY NOTE

These were legal tender circulating notes that bore interest every six months for three years paid semi-annually. I wonder how you got the interest? Unfortunately, as pretty as it must have been at issue, the gold embossed overprint was a big mistake because the ink and paper were not compatible and time has affected many of this type. This note is one of only 15 reported with this date and the quality seems similar to the others. The paper has excellent color and body, but there is a small rust spot and two tiny pieces of tape as well as a couple of tiny splits either on edge or internal. The last offered was in 2021 as a PMG VF 20 with splits repaired. I would suggest restoration could be best for the future of this rarity.
